Thao and I are on the same page about the Catholic agenda. She said half of her family is Catholic because of marriage conversions. Her family is Buddhist, but many of her relatives have married Catholics. Their soon to be spouses require conversion to Catholicism before they tie the knot. Unlike Buddhists who really don't care about conversion, Catholics are sticklers for wanting the next generation to continue the faith. In my family, it's the same deal. You can marry whoever you want as long as that person is a Catholic. If he/she is not a Catholic, the person must undergo catechism and baptism to be fully converted. Most of the time, the "savages" do it just to make everyone happy.
I think I am back on schedule. Yesterday's two hour nap really helped me stay up later. I started early with a bike ride up Lafayette and Park Ave. I was one of 5 bike riders at that time. It was nice having the entire avenue to yourself. I made it up to Central Park and completed the half loop. I did not want to do the entire loop because of the hills in the northern end. That's just too much to handle early in the morning. They had a bike race going on at that time, even the kids version. Everyone was super competitive. I should have called Anh Binh because he was also up. He managed to pick up a free helmet for Alex. We watched the pilot to Breaking Bad. I am not immediately hooked, but I can see how it can get "bad". I still have my Downton Abbey. My one woman show date turned out to be an eating marathon. I was offered fried chicken by the people behind us because they ordered way too much chicken. I replied, "no, thank you...I am vegetarian." They rolled their eyes. Cat gave me a lift to Mott St. It was ridiculously steamy all day. After my long awaited nap, Sandrine and I caught up at our favorite Thai place. I had no idea it's a BYOB place. The lady next to us told me not to talk about the spirits. Just let them be.

I shared the honey vodka with Anh Binh. It was seriously strong. I remembered it being a lot lighter when I had it initially. Perhaps I wasn't supposed to shake up the bottle. I noticed quite a bit of sediments sinking to the bottom. I shook up the bottle and the particles distributed evenly throughout the bottle. I won't shake the bottle again. I think Anh Binh and I got buzzed off of the one shot. He couldn't down the shot in one gulp. His chaser was water. I was knocked out by 10PM and woke up at 3AM. I've been up since 3AM. I kept myself busy by trying to finish up 1Q84. She didn't shot herself after all. So it's a group outing versus a setup. I will relay the message. I like a partial work week. Derek, I finally understand the whole mileage elite status thing. I had every opportunity to triple my miles a few months ago by paying a small fee. I declined the offer thinking why I should pay for miles. If I buy miles now, they won't count toward my elite status. No wonder you fly all the time...even for short weekend trips. The perks of having some kind of status definitely outweigh having no status at all. I am trying to figure out the laptop situation and updating my music.
When will this humidity end? I literally soak in sweat when I go in and out of the apartment. I then have to change shirts every single time because the sweat smell does not go away. I would rather three digit dry weather than high 80s humid weather. At least with the dry hot air you don't sweat.
The apartment is literally a sauna. Apparently, Anh Binh likes it very warm in the apartment. The thermostat shows 81 degrees on the a/c unit when I walked in. Why even have the unit on with air blowing at that temperature? All I can think about was the last sauna incident involving KNT and Joel. Those too also liked it very warm. Oh and get this... it's not even winter time. It's dirty hot outside in the middle of New York summer. I still don't get it. Maybe the warm air is good for the skin. I am happy in my refrigerated bedroom with the a/c on full blast. My first night back was better than expected. I was a few minutes late to TD's surprise bday dinner. The food was amazing. I definitely have to return to the Burg for Round II. I have the day off to play catch up with the laundry lady and the gym monitors. Mike, stop talking about the spirits. Just leave it alone. Good lord.
