Change is coming yet again...
Change is coming yet again...
I was very impressed with Beauty & Essex. All these years, I thought it was a casual place with ridiculous lines to get in. To my surprise, I found the place beautifully decorated and the service was excellent. Granted we arrived before 11PM...still, the server was attentive, but not pushy. We went further south and was told the place was hosting a private party. I think that's their way of saying we don't want you to come inside. We walked over to this speak easy a couple blocks away. I didn't know the code word but Paul thought of something and mumbled it. The guy let us in. The place had an interesting group of people. No one really belonged to any particular group. We dropped off the car in front the apartment for Christina. This involved ringing the doorbell over and over again until Rachel opened the door.
It's been nice sleeping on the earlier side. I still wake up pretty restless. Last night, I got knocked out at 9PM only to wake up two hours later thinking it was closer to 5AM. It was a nap before the actual sleep. I haven't been giving Amazon much business because I haven't bought anything other than food. Speaking of which, I spent about $50 on fruits and nuts at Whole Foods the other day. It was well worth it. Everything was sweet, especially the bananas and strawberries. Go for the organic if you can. I like that the fruit tastes sweeter than the non-organic ones. Shannon was a bit on the crazy side at the birthday dinner for Brooks. Vicki stormed out of there like a crazy lady. It was not a good scene. These ladies definitely play up their emotions for the camera. The only one who keeps it together is Heather (from the OC). She is the neutralizer and not a pot stirrer. Bethanny sat back as the ladies went crazy. She did get a bit nicer towards the end of the season. I need a life for commenting on the housewives. I need more TV show options in my life. "Under the Dome" is getting crazy and complicated. I'm not a fan of all the alien stuff that is taking place.
We got lucky with Oregon's weather. Apparently, they had triple digit weather before we arrived plus the wildfires in California added thick haze to their blue sky. When we were there, the weather was cool in the mornings and evenings. The highest temperature of the day took place around 5pm. I figured the hottest part of the day should take place around noon time. Ashland was a nice little town with plenty of shops and restaurants. There were no young people around though. I really felt like I was in Wayward Pines. Jacksonville was also a nice little town. The town literally has two blocks of Main Street shops. We picked up a frog door stopper for the bedroom. Medford reminded me of Jefferson Parish in that it is a suburb of a bigger city. However, Medford was the biggest town in the area so I'm not sure how that works. The power did go out in the mall when we were there. It was sort of spooky. I anticipated zombies coming out soon after that. Breanne looked very beautiful for her wedding. Dante was equally as happy. It was my first outdoor wedding. Besides the bright sun beaming down on me when the ceremony took place, it was smooth sailing from there. No bugs bit me and the wine kept coming. The DJ fulfilled all requests immediately. Sunday was family day that included two rounds of bowling. It was a relaxing trip other than the very early morning flights going and coming from the West Coast. Other than that, I am glad to be back.
This weekend will be the last wedding of five weddings since November 2014. Everyone decided to get married within the past few months. All of the weddings involved airfare and lodging except for one. The closest one took place in Long Island, which still required two nights of lodging. Weddings are fun because it's just a big ole party and everyone wants to have a good time. I don't mind going to weddings and spending on the travel and gifts. It's a once in a lifetime event for those getting married so why not go all out and celebrate with the happy couple. Okay enough with the sappy talk...we finally got bottled water delivered to the office. Hooray for still water!
Happy Birthday, TD! Enjoy your time in Mexico with your husband.
Yes, I am cheating a bit. I think Khoi will be the only one who catches me. I will be out of town tomorrow so it's better to be early than late. Coffee will be eliminated from our office. I actually just used the last paper cup to fill up water because we are also out of still water. We do have a filtered drinking water fountain, which I prefer. I broke my canteen not too long ago because I attempted to freeze water overnight. The canteen broke up so now I am back to plastic cups. The only drink option now is sparkling water...how fancy and biased. It's a dictatorship I tell ya. It can't get any worse than this. As a loyal subject who does not want to ruffle any of the leader's feathers, I will submit to the leader's demands and the King's Hand. This is pretty much it until the next uprising or change in regime.
