So I am back in Ghana this week. Apparently, at this time of the year, it is the hottest. When I was in Ghana in August, it was considered the cool season. Well, I don't see much difference. We had power outage on the second day we were here after a crazy overnight rainstorm. The hotel didn't experience any outage but the office backup generator did not work all day. We packed our belongings and worked from the nearby academic center as opposed to the research center. I have to say...the people are overly friendly this time around. Our driver has been super prompt and is extremely professional. My coworker did not do well the first couple of days. We needed the first two days to acclimate before starting work on Monday. I am happy with the lie flat seats as opposed to the zigzag angled ones from last time. Delta definitely invested in the right stuff. On the way here, I slept a solid seven hours. Service from the flight attendants was super fast because we were already delayed by two hours and the cabin was less than half full. I slept the night away and felt refreshed upon arrival. Our suitcases came out ahead of everyone else's and Felix was waiting for us with name placards. Melatonin helped with my sleeping at the beginning of the trip. I'm never doing breathing yoga again. It was a waste of my time. I did enjoy Zumba last night. I woke up this morning with low back pain. This is a sign of aging.

No one wanted to come back to work today. The light snow from this morning's commute did not really help. I managed to get all of my errands in by 1:30 PM yesterday. After a couple episodes of House of Cards, I slept for a good two hours. I like those two hour naps to get me all caught up. I like waking up after about an hour and going back to sleep. It's a great feeling waking up and not having to worry about being somewhere. I nap better when I am on my couch versus napping on the bed. The third surprise to end the month long birthday celebration finally ended. This time, it was a total success. No one slipped, including me. To end my Sunday, I was dropped off in Astoria to eat some homemade Vietnamese food. I am still shocked that she had to die right off the bat. I find that main characters are now getting killed off left and right. No one is safe anymore. If Francis or his wife dies, that's really the end of the series. The series certainly cannot survive without the ruthless couple.

I am ready for the long weekend. We have another snowstorm tomorrow. Today is super bright and sunny. It is a nice break from yesterday's mess. I really do enjoy the afternoon naps. We were excused at 3PM. I was in bed by 3:20PM. Instead of heading out in the rain, KNT and Nick stopped by for some banh mi. I should have picked up fresh banh mi. They were a bit too crunchy and stale. The viewing of Arlington Road was cut short because it has already been screened. There really was nothing on TV. We settled for Chernobyl Diaries. Today I am eating too much sweets. Queena brought the rest of her homemade cupcakes in. I have a thing for sweets. One day...one of these days I am removing sweets from my diet completely. I will be pissy all the time because of the no sugar intake. The BR tickets are booked. I feel like if I wait any longer, the price will increase more and more. Just yesterday, the ticket was $40 cheaper. Pretty does hurt!

I finally finished the series. It was a sad, yet uplifting ending to a great story. All the bad guys eventually died, including the very anal lady with the chemical products. The last scene reminded me of Lost's series finale when Jack laid there in the forest looking up to the sky. I'm glad the kids will get their money. I am also glad Skylar is getting her redemption. Her sister will get to see her dead husband's body after all. I have been stressed for the past couple of days because of the last few episodes. It really is one of the best series to date, if not the best. Lost is still up there too, but this one seems more real and can happen in real life. I do have a few complaints about the props. If the show took place during the early 2000, why was there a big flat screen TV in the middle of Pinkman's living room? Also, I think he was playing with an Xbox, which didn't really come out then... or wasn't as big as it is today. Also, there were bottles of Sriracha right next to other "American" condiments in the restaurant where Mr. White meets the chemical lady. Sriracha was definitely not an American staple back then. There are a few other discrepancies, but perhaps the people of New Mexico are dated and the show really did take place now? Anyways, it was a great show nonetheless and I look forward to the spin off. I am now on to the new season of House of Cards.

So the plans are all coming together...so I think. I think my coffee is way too sweet. I now know how Agnes likes her coffee. Only use milk and do not add sugar. We survived another day of best practices talks. I wasn't too bored actually. I don't know why Paris is not getting a lot of business. The food is really good. The canh chua is by far better than Pho Grand's. Thanks to Dat and Miss J, we will be coming back to Paris. Too bad we spilled half a bottle of lambrusco. Yes, it's BYOB. I don't think you need to even ask. Last night was a close call. We scrambled to put the stuff away. I think they knew what was up. My taxes are done. I am getting a little bit more than last year's returns. I am still on the new year high.
