Best Halloween costume I saw this morning...a guy in a red sweatshirt hoodie biking to work. In front of his bike was a basket with ET all wrapped inside with his face looking straight ahead. Pretty cool!

It seems like I am the only one who orders a glass of wine at the dinner table. Everyone else is okay with iced tea. Po-boys up north are just not the same as the ones down south. Even Texans know how to whip up a good po-boy. The only po-boy that comes close to home is this little shop in the Lower East Side. The guys are straight from New Orleans...New Orleans East for that matter. He even knows how to count up to 10 in Vietnamese because he grew up in "Versailles". I am thoroughly enjoying the Minh Tuyet radio from iTunes radio. It has all of my favorites plus some classics. I switch over to the Jealous radio station for a more upbeat vibe. Meiji makes the best candy. I am addicted to their chocolate almonds and butterscotch hard candy. I get a bit crazy at the Sunrise Mart on Broome St. I tell myself I am only here to get real food, but I end up walking out with tons of snacks and candy. Their french fries are pretty amazing. Get them with the spicy mayo dipping sauce. It doesn't matter if they are sitting under the heat lamps. The fries are still delicious. I treat myself to the fries about a couple times a year. Any more than that, I'll be paying for it.

My next conquest is to stock up at Kamakura Shirts.
Ebola finally made it here. It took her some time to get her despite millions of people coming and going through New York. You can be a transit passenger at any of the three airports or stay for a night or two. I'm surprised it took this long to get our first case. The guy was pretty irresponsible for socializing and being out in the public considering feeling "sluggish" the past two days. Is he not an expert on how to contain the virus? I would expect a layman to do what he did, but a practicing physician who just came back from West Africa while treating patients should really know better. I hope he survives and I hope no one else is infected. This is certainly not the last case of Ebola in New York. She will make her rounds throughout the world and before you know it, it's "Outbreak" and "Contagion" ...this time, it's real. I hope I'm Jude Law...he was immune to whatever disease that killed almost everyone in "Contagion". I had a really bad nightmare last night that consisted of scenes from both "Contagion" and "World War Z". Let's just say I woke up a few times throughout the night sweating and feeling stressed. We have to leave it up to the authorities to protect us. Exercise some extra care and just be smart.
The rain should end after lunch time today. It's been nonstop since Tuesday night. My chrome shoes keep my feet dry. I think they are waterproof. Perhaps my shoes guy can seal up my brown boots in anticipation of the snowy winter season. I have modified my sleeping schedule all this week. It's been great. I still go to sleep around the same time but I am now getting up about an hour later. I do feel a bit more refreshed. There's no added pressure to get up early. Instead of coffee, I drink chai tea with a bit of foam. The coffee machine allows for a two step process for foamy drinks. Loan caught on to the ever famous hashtag created a couple weekends ago at TD's party. Michelle confirmed that it is a combination of two phrases. The hardest part is getting yourself there and when you are there, it's a piece of cake. I am still on the fence about tonight. I cancelled on Nelson in anticipation of getting a new suit. I owe him a chicken!
I am craving Bambu. It is really delicious. I should have had more the last time I was in Houston. The ingredients are fresh and the taste is just right. Che is just another che, but the che from Bambu is exceptional. I can't explain it really. You have to taste it for yourself. I think I will end up making che at some point this weekend. Last night's ride to Northport was an adventure. The car ride took a little over two hours from the city in traffic. The HOV lane is definitely a necessity during traffic time. We were served small bites after small bites. The food just kept coming. Wine and beer were on the house. We were given a tour of the restaurant's secret dining rooms in the building next to the main one. The two old dogs waiting for us were very cute. They just stared at me and did not move. It took about an hour coming back to the city. The rain woke me up a few times throughout the night. It's odd hearing thunderstorms in New York. Instead of meeting up with Nelson for the shoot, I am going to buy a new suit. I would feel more comfortable in the new suit. I got my new passport plus my old one back. Time to travel again!
I am starting to like not waking up so early and getting a bit more rest. I had my alarm set for 6:30AM, but pushed it to 7:30AM. An extra hour or even an additional 30 minutes is a blessing. I hurried home last night to get some housekeeping out of the way. I changed out the rug, which took longer than expected. Getting the rug out of its packaging was a hassle. I really need new scissors. I picked up dry cleaning and dropped off dry cleaning in two separate trips. I did some ironing. I put the dishes away. I swept the floor. I dusted. I wiped down the kitchen counter and the bathroom. I restocked toilet paper. I got rid of wire hangers in the closet. Wire hangers really bother me. I woke up this morning with plenty of parking in the prime spots behind the lamppost. The meter does not start until 9AM and there is no street cleaning prior to that. Plus, the spots are good for two hours. Late Sunday night and early Monday morning, they were all taken. I guess people stayed an extra day in the city or something. I have lunch with Anh Quan and Hillary later today. I hope the rain is delayed until later in the night. I'm off to Long Island again tonight. Chi Mai cancelled on me for good reasons. They need to make it work. It is nice to be in bed really early on a Monday night. It is the one night to catch up on your sleep.
Chang, thank you for letting me know about the Minh Tuyet iTunes radio station. I guess you can find almost every artist out there. This past weekend was 1 of 4 weddings in the coming months. Next one up is a month away.
My boss and I were just talking about how busy everyone is. It's one thing after another. We need to have some down time and breathe. Speaking of which, I went back last night for the first time in a long time. It was quite challenging. I couldn't get my one leg to be at 90 degrees while standing. I did all I could. I cancelled Domenic's deep flow for Thursday because I will need a few more sessions before diving into deep flow. Thanks to Chi Mai, I only had to pay $5 for 10 classes. I like the 6PM classes because they are not crowded. You have a lot of room to swing your arms and legs around. I ended up not using the tailor in the LES. Sham recommended him, but I read really bad reviews about the guy. I normally go to these guys down the street. I have been going to them for years. They are always on top of it. They have your items ready for you on the day promised. I gave them a suit jacket to shorten the sleeves. The sleeves came out great. I need two more items for this weekend... a white pocket square and long silk socks. I'll try Suit Supply first and go from there. We are a very progressive office. People are steering away from regular birthday cakes. I got cupcakes for my birthday and Kyle will be getting a chocolate bomb pudding. KNT, it was nice bumping into you and Nick at Jane. It was a pleasant surprise! This takes me back to my chan doi days...
I survived the long weekend. Everything fell into place as expected and there were no hiccups.
The right side is slowly getting back to normal. Agnes told me my work shoes are crappy compared to my neatly pressed clothes. She said my work attire is polished except for the shoes. I took her advice and will be wearing the new brown shoes Loan got me and the black shoes I got from J.Crew. I was going to save the black shoes for special occasions but why buy something and not wear it? Thanks to Chang and SL, I applied the gift card amount to the shoes. They were not cheap! It's nice not having to go to Coles and Palladium any more. It really is "chan doi" standing in line and wait for them to open. Gyms should open really early and close really late. I'm off to Onassis tonight.
I have downloaded Cass and Michael's board game. I need to cut and fold the game pieces. I need to get cardboard, glue, and color pencils to enhance the pieces. This will be my little pet project for the next few weeks. Once the game is constructed, I will read the rules and test out the game. Once I am familiarized with the game, I will invite others to come over and test out the game. Feedback to follow...In other news, cyclists who ride in the wrong direction and expect you (the one who is riding in the right direction) to swerve over and make room for them should be kicked off of their bikes. I have been tempted several times to do this. I am going in the right direction and have car traffic to my right. You want me to move more to the right to be in car traffic so you can pass me up on my left side? Clearly, you are the one who is protected from cars. I am that barrier who is providing the safety net for you. Next time, I am not creating any extra space for you. You either need to yield to me by slowing down or our bicycle handles will love tap one another eventually leading to a collision.
My ribs on the right side of my body are still a bit tender. It all started with me pressing against the armrest to close the window shut. I should have asked Kyle to close the blinds but he was asleep. I was told to take it easy and not mess with the ribs or the right side of my core for right now. This is why I am staying clear of yoga. I will try running tomorrow morning to see how it goes. It hurts a bit when I cough or laugh.
I woke up to street construction on full blast right at 7:15 AM. So not cool.
